In the spring of 2008 Matt left Houghton and headed to northern Georgia to pursue a long standing dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail. Over the next 106 days and 2,200 miles he made many friends, had indescribable adventures and saw scenery he will never forget. On his journey from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine walked a near complete transect of the Eastern United States.
They say no one hikes the AT and comes out the same when they’re done and Matt was no exception. He kept a journal everyday to highlight his adventures and track his progress and took hundreds of photos to share his journey.
We hope you enjoy reading about Matt’s hike and seeing his photos. If you have questions or if there is some info you would like to see here please drop us a line.
