Rangeley, ME to Spaulding Mountain Lean-To, ME: Daily miles 18.7, Total miles 1977.5
A long night. The people we stayed with and the southbounders were up until well past 2AM, 7 hours after I went to sleep, partying and being loud. Nothing wrong with it, just made it tough to sleep and I wish I would have just paid for the hostel. Mailed my stuff off to Hannah and caught a ride back to the trail. Went over saddleback mountain in some fog and rain. It was cold and windy but made the mountaintop very cool to be on. On clear days you can catch your first view of Katahdin from the top but no luck today. Better off that way, don’t want to get to excited this far out. The hike was pretty easy and we just cruised along. We’ve been coming to a lot rivers without bridges lately but have gotten by pretty easily so far and not had to get to wet. Crazy Legs and I decided that we would head into Stratton tomorrow and since we had been living pretty frugally for the entire trail so we could live it in Maine and spend another night in a hostel. So we don’t have much food and my pack is extra light. Made for an easy day.
