Madison Springs Hut, NH to Carter Notch Hut, NH: Daily miles 13.7, Total miles 1865.6
Got dried out and hit the trail early trying to get a big day in. The dry didn’t last long and we rolled into Pinkham notch as the thunder started. I had a mail drop from Hannah at the visitor center and was really excited to get a package. It was great to get a note and some food. I ate a burger and Crazy Legs and I rolled out to make one of the hardest climbs in the Whites, Wildcat Ridge. It was pouring rain and the trail was slick and rocky. It was a really tough climb and dangerous in places due to the rain. The view was great and the hike after the climb was easy. When we got to the next hut we decided to stop again for the day even though we didn’t make our miles. It was cold and rainy and we just didn’t feel like going on. We are going into town tomorrow for some food and a shower. It will be nice to relax.
