Things are going pretty well in the planning process for this trip. We have been busy dehydrating food and looking at maps and all the good stuff you have to do before a trip of this stature.

We have gotten a few more sponsors for the trip. I really want to thank Granite Gear and Headsweats for their support. Without the help of these companies, and our other sponsor Aquapac, we would have a much harder time even getting in the water.

We have done a little promotion of the trip, on radio and the web and gotten a press release out about the trip. Things are going well around Houghton. The weather has finally started to turn and spring is at least teasing it’s way into our lives. The sun has been shining and it is really warm, comparatively. We have been hanging out outside a lot, walking the dog and sitting on the porch. I have gotten my fixed gear bike project on the road and have been having fun playing with that.

All our gear and plans are falling into line and things are really coming together. I went to the post office and have my passport on its way so I will be able to get back into the U.S. We just have a few more pieces of equipment to pick up and some final plans to get in order and months to do it in.

It is interesting looking back to a year ago at this time. I was about to leave on my AT hike. All the excitement and anticipation. A lot has changed and gone on this year. I am still really excited and filled with anticipation but the trip has changed dramatically. If you are reading this and heading out on a long trail this year, as it is that time, good luck and have fun.
